Me & Him and the distance in between

I totally don't know what to feel right now. It's all mixed emotions! I am so excited that I will finally see him in person. I know a lot of people won’t understand long distance relationships and some even think that it is just something that really won’t last for a long time. I have even read something earlier today that long distance relationships are not allowed in certain groups in church because they believe that people change a lot and if you don't see the person face to face all the time, you will really not be able to know that person full well. I beg to disagree!

It is so hard to imagine to have not seen in person someone you love so much (or to love someone so much that you haven't met in person yet, lol). But I would like to say that IT IS POSSIBLE. Since we started dating last August of 2010, I have not seen Steve in person yet and that is not from lack of wanting or desiring to see him. We wanted to see each other so bad but there are so many priorities to choose from and many decisions to make. I need to work on my schooling while he also has some important things to do. We are not saying that seeing each other is not a priority but it’s something that we can postpone for the moment while we are trying to prepare ourselves. We really believe that it is God directing us to make those decisions. The right time will come. We just have to wait.

We have been constantly praying to God for the opportunity to see each other and most of the times the answer is NOT FOR NOW. It is sometimes hard to accept it but then we still continued to ask God that if it is not His plan for us at the moment that He should shut the door close so we can see that it is really not yet time. But if He will already give us a go signal that He will also open the door sooooo wide so we won’t have a problem seeing the opportunity.

Well, that is why I have mixed emotions is because it seems that God is already opening the door now!!! He seems to be making all things work out slowly and surely. Sure there are still some few doubts and fears on whether it will really push through now but we trust God and He said in His word that He blesses those who trust Him and He will also provide for them abundantly.

I am excited because he will be here in the first week of April! Oh my! I am excited and just looking forward to seeing him in person and look at him in the eye and tell him I love him so much!!! Please help us pray that this will push through. We have great confidence in God because He works in all things to make it work for our good. I also want to thank the people who are helping us in anyway just for us to see each other. I and Steve are indeed blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.

I trust you in all things Father!

  1. Love your blog! Cant believe I haven't check it out until now :) I just wanted to say that I know how you feel. Probably not to the same degree but I know how it is to have a long distance relationship. Thats how it was for me and my boyfriend Brad. We met at camp one summer but of course afterwards i had to go home to RI and he went home to Arkansas. He called me a week later and we started talking and talking and talking lol. We soon felt drawn to each other and developed a really close friendship. At the next camp we saw each other again for a few days but I was still in high school and wasnt going to be going to Arkansas for another half year. The hard part about the few short times we saw each other was that it was idealized. We were both super happy and blessed which is natural but we knew that once i moved to Arkansas, things would change. We were worried because what if we just werent compatible in "real life"? Being around someone all the time in comparison to just talking to them on phone can potentially put a lot of strain on a relationship. However, we were reminded that if God brought us together than He would be working with us to make things work. We also made the committment to make sure that no matter what happened that we would talk things out and work past difficulties. Once I moved here there were a lot of challenges we had to overcome however we noticed that our relationship became more mature in a way that can only be accomplished by spending time together. We got used to each other and lost that new love ooshy gooshy feeling, but we developed a greater appreciation for each other. Theres nothing hidden now, we know all of each others annoying habits and such but it brings you closer and teaches us that you dont just love people because of things you like, but you love them despite everything that makes them imperfect and human and realize that you don't mind those things because you're committed to them.
SO long story short, it is a little strange seeing someone in person after months and months of just talk ing to them on the phone but it will bring your relationship to a whole new level and its really awesome too! I am so excited for you two! I've seen all your posts to each other and about each other on my newsfeed and it seems like you have a really awesome relationship. I hope you guys have a wonderful visit. God Bless sister!!!

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet and wonderful words Allegra! I am happy that someone understands what I feel. For me and Steve, we also started being good friends and he is still my bestfriend and will always be. We also have some concerns but like you, we also believe that if God brought us together, HE WILL MAKE THINGS WORK! I am so blessed by your message lady! and for the mushy gushy part, I truly understand that too! It is somehow replaced with respect and appreciation for each other. :) It is good to love someone who knows all about you (good and bad) but still wants to love you, right? I am just so excited to see him!!! Thank you for being happy for us and I am so looking forward to spending time with you in the future!
